Rooming In

This entry is being typed while mom and dad are "rooming in" with Jonathan and Anna inside the hospital.  The NICU likes parents to stay for several hours and take care of the babies completely.  The monitors are still hooked up, and the nurses are around if we really need them.  The idea is for mom and dad to get more comfortable with caring for them before they come home.  We are spending the night with the two, and the nurse will take care of Lydia for us tonight.  Jonathan should eat again between 1 - 3 a.m., and Anna between 2 - 4 a.m.  As we're normally up to at least 1 a.m. anyways lately, we will not even try to sleep until after Anna is fed again in the 2 -4 a.m. timeframe.

By the way, I put up more photos on the photos site.  There are a bunch of the babies room now that it is finished and organized.  So basically whenever the kids are finally ready, the room is already waiting for them.

Tomorrow we will travel up and back to/from Bradford/Manchester.  We are bringing Grandma Johnson down to stay for a week.  As she has no access to the internet, she has only seen some of the regular film photos that we've taken.  Most of what is on the photos section is from our digital, but we keep taking regular film too.  I get the photo CD so I can use them digitally too if I want.

Opps....battery on the laptop getting low, so time to sign off for now.

Lisa, Happy Mother's Day. Hope your first mother's day was memorable. So how was your overnight stay with the two? Did you get any sleep? Was wondering why Lydia wasn't there.

The overnight stay went well.  Jonathan was due for between 1 - 2, and Anna between 2 - 3, so we just stayed up through then.  Lisa took care of Jonathan, and Jim took care of Anna, and we both went to sleep around 2:30.  Jonathan woke Lisa up around 5:00 a.m. and she fed him again.  Then his sensors for the heart monitor were not picking up right, and they kept both of us up for another half hour until we made the nurse fix the sensors.  By that time Jim took care of Anna again.  At that point we went to sleep again until 8 a.m. and Lisa took Jonathan while Jim took Anna again.  Shortly after that we left so we could go up/back to Bradford to pick up Lisa's mom.

Lydia was not there since she was still in the Isolette.  As it was, the room was barely big enough for just two babies.  Three would have really been a challenge, as we'd guess the room to be 8' x 10' with a mini fridge, love seat, chair, the two babies and the monitors.  Lydia was taken off artificial heat that night, and was put into her basinett later on Saturday.

They are beautiful! Cant believe how fast they are growing. That's so great! Hope you guys are adjusting and getting some cat naps in while you can. I loved reading about the sleep over. That's really a great idea. Sorry I haven't called, didn't want to wake you if you guys were sleeping. I check the website everyother day. Lisa, you look great! Cant believe you just popped out triplets! We have your babies pictures up on our fridge in the blood bank. Hope to see your family soon. Call if you need anything!
      Love,
