Murphys Law is alive and well....

Of course our washer would wait until the babies are home and required laundry to be done approx. every-other day to break down.  On top of that, it's the typical scenario when trying to get service...Either someone promises to show up, or they dont even seem interested in the business.  We've been trying since Monday just to get a firm commitment for a repair, and have yet to be successfu.  If we do not line something up soon, we may just say to heck with it and buy a new one.  So what if that would be more expensive, we need a working washer and we need it fast!

July 4th was a good day.  It was the first day since Lisa started back to work that we had a full day together.  The grass finally got cut in the morning, and we loaded up the babies in the Explorer and got out of the house for alittle while.  We had lunch by visiting the Wendy's drive-thru, and then went to Dairy Queen for desert.  Then we went to Peggy's house to visit (Lisa's coworker that lives close by).  The babies were good (as they always are for visitors).  They waited until later in the evening to get cranky for a couple of hours.

Next week we'll find out how much they weigh when we go to the doctors office for the next check-up and several vacinations.

      Jim,
Hope you got someone to come and fix the washer. Not something you can be without for too long.
Glad you and Lisa had a good day together on the 4th.

We'll see if they show up today.

Yesterday I called the retailer that originally sold the unit to us.  They're over in Lancaster County.  I didn't try them first only because I tought it would be better/easier to get someone from York County to come look at it.  It turns out that I should have just called the original retailer.  According to their website, they are actually fanatical and professional about their service.  Calling them yesterday, and they are to show up this afternoon.

It was real fun because our washer is an oversize capacity model.  And since it is located on the 2nd floor in our closet, it sits inside a plastic drip-pan (the idea is in the event of a major leak, there is a pipe in the drip-pan the drains the water to the basement sump-pump).  So the washer is very heavy and has to be lifted out of the drip-pan to be worked on.  So I had to help with getting the thing in a workable state.

The technician quickly determined that the pump was not turning freely, but the main drum transmission and the motor seemed to be okay.  So he removed the old pump and installed a new one.  While he was here, I had him replace the supply hoses too as preventitive maintenance.  All-in-all, it took about 1 hour, 15 minutes to get it fixed up, and a good portion of that time was initially getting the unit in a servicable position.

I haven't done it yet, but I'd like to tear apart the old pump to see if something got inside of it to cause the failure.  It sounded like there was something inside of it resisting the spin before it completely stopped working.
