Me and my shadow

The other day the late-afternoon sun was coming into the kids playroom.  The sun was hitting the far wall, and Lydia seemed to notice something looked different.  First she was studying the pattern made by the window.  Then she moved closer, and created her own shadow on the wall.  She noticed it, and started moving back and forth to see what the shadow would do.  She had a clear, plastic block in her hand which the sun hit and made spots on the wall.  As she moved her hand, the spots would move.  She was intrigued by the spots, but didn't realize she was the one making them move.

Lydia also started to try standing up while holding onto one of us when we're laying on the floor.  We've tried to get her to stand up while we are on the couch, but she does not seem ready for that yet.

Jonathan started stepping sideways while standing at the couch.  Since he loves our cell phones, Mommy placed her phone at the opposite end of the couch and he stepped sideways to retrieve it.  So we kept repeating the process, and he continued to do it.

Anna is pretty good at standing while holding on to us or at the couch, but she hasn't tried to step sideways yet.  But she has perfected carrying a toy with her while crawling.  She also likes to hold up and show you whatever toy she happens to have.

Daddy received and accepted a job offer this week.  It is a good position and company.  The pay is slightly less than the last place.  The biggest negative is that they're located in northeastern Harrisburg.  So the commute time, not to mention the cost of gas, is not going to be any fun.  Another company that is only 1.5 miles from our house had told Daddy two or three times that "by tomorrow I'll try to have an answer for you".  Daddy cannot wait for tomorrow that may never come, so he accepted the Harrisburg job.
