Our party

"It's our party, and we'll cry if we want to..."
Before the kids 1st birthday party, Grandma and Pappy allowed us to visit them at their place to feed them and change diapers, etc. after the trip up from Manchester. Thankfully not too many other people spotted us before we could get them inside. We do not mind talking with people if we are not in a hurry, but in this case they really needed to be fed/changed. Unfortunately the girls decided to cry and be unsure of Grandma and Pappy. Anna especially is in the stage where she gets scared of almost anyone except Mommy and Daddy. At least Jonathan stayed his usual happy-go-lucky self and was willing to sit with them.
We ended up being a couple minutes late getting to The Dream, but we were still the first ones there. While Daddy was setting up the kids table we brought along, Mommy got Aunt Donna and Bruce (the first to arrive) to help blow up some balloons for us. Thankfully Aunt Sue and Dave were willing to handle picking up the birthday cakes for us, so it was one less thing for us to worry about before arriving.
The girls continued to be scared at times throughout the party. Occassionally they would be fine with someone other than Mommy or Daddy holding them, but Jonathan was the only one that was content no matter who wanted to see him. In fact, Uncle Bill took small amounts of ice tea in a straw and let Jonathan drink some. He seemed to catch on to that fairly well. Then Uncle Bill offered him his lemon, and Jonathan seemed to like eating that too! At one point Mommy tried letting Anna drink water from her glass, and Anna seemed to do okay with it.
The eating of the birthday cake by the trio was, as expected, very messy and very cute. At least Anna was the only one to put her messy hands all over her birthday hat to dirty it up. Jonathan didn't want to keep his hat on, so it wasn't a problem for him.
As we moved the kids table over to where their presents were, Anna decided to start crying again. We're not sure what she was unhappy about then. But after a few minutes of starting to open up the presents, she seemed to come around. They all received some really cool clothes and toys. Guarenteed they will be well dressed and have plenty to play with for some time.
It was good to see everyone that was able to make it. But the time seemed to go by so fast and it just seemed like there wasn't enough time to talk more with everyone there. Of course if anyone would like to come visit us sometime, just give us a call and let us know when you would like to stop by.
