1st time trick-or-treating

This was the first year that we took the kids out for trick-or-treating for Halloween. We wanted to do "The Three Little Pigs". We had trouble finding regular pig costumes locally, and by the time we found some on the internet all we could find were "Piglet" costumes in 12-18 month size! As Anna and sometimes Lydia wear 18 month pants at times, we figured it might be fine for them. We were not sure about Jonathan. Well, we did manage to shoe-horn Jonathan into his costume, Lydia was tight, and Anna was just fine.
Since Jonathan and Lydia have been stubborn at times when we go out and demand that Mommy or Daddy carry them, we decided to take the two-car section of the Choo-Choo Wagon in case they got tired. That way the most we would carry would be one of them. The girls decided to start out riding in the wagon, but after the first couple houses, everybody started walking from house to house.
Jonathan was the first one to catch on as to what to do. He was hesitant to take his first piece of candy. But then Daddy asked him to put it into the bag we had, and he thought that was fun. So by the 2nd house he did not hesitate to take the candy and put it into the bag. The girls caught on too by the 2nd or third house.
Of course it's interesting some of the comments you overhear while your out. The usual "there's the three little pigs", or "look, triplets" was heard numerous times. But the funniest comment was from a little girl we heard saying "look, they're triplets, all of them". (And we're thinking "Yes, ALL of them are triplets").
Daddy has said that each year that he would give out candy (before the kids were born), it seemed like there were more and more kids each year. And for us to actually be out with the trick-or-treaters this year, it seemed like there were definitely a good number of people out this year too.
Lydia was the only one to eat anything she was given that same night. She had a lolipop that she decided to hold onto instead of putting it in the bag towards the end of the night. Once we got into the house and got their costumes off, we opened it up and let her eat it.
Towards the end Anna seemed really tired walking, and Lydia ended up riding in the wagon for awhile. Jonathan didn't show too much tireness while out, but you could tell once we were home how tired he was too.
We were very pleased that they seemed to catch on and enjoy the evening. So next year should be really fun for them.
Halloween pictures are up on the Photos page. As Daddy took a lot of pictures this month, the rest of the October photos may not be up for several more days.
