| Finally catching up after not posting for awhile...
Lauren did in fact have her two front teeth for Christmas. She was also pretty good at trying to grab at the wrapping paper on her presents even if she didn't know how to rip them open yet. What a difference a couple of months makes at her age. At Christmas, Lauren was not trying to crawl at all or rarely even trying to hold her own bottle. Now she can hold her own bottle, and she is figuring out the crawling thing. She really like the frilly end of the runner rug in the hallway. She also generally likes to go where ever the other three kids are to see what they're doing. Our biggest concern is just watching her closely when she's in their play room just because of smaller toy pieces she might be able to get. She still doesn't want to sit up on her own. But when crawling she has pulled herself up a little bit. She pulled up on the fireplace once and up on one of the kitchen cabinet handles. Lauren is also starting to not like her stroller as much anymore. It seems like she's ready for her next stroller where she'll be sitting up. We put her in a cart at Kohl's once, and she seemed to like sitting in it.
Our first attempts at spoon feeding Lauren did not go very well. She just didn't seem interested at all. Now she will do it if it's one of the fruit-based foods. She doesn't care for the vegetables much! She now will eat a whole small jar of food at some sittings.
Jonathan, Anna, and Lydia really had fun with Christmas this year. They actually asked to talk with Santa Claus several times at the mall; although they still weren't always talkative once they were with Santa. Late last year the kids had a vision screening done at preschool. That screening suggested that Jonathan may have a problem with his left eye. So we took all three of them to the regular eye doctor to have them evaluated. Jonathan was diagnosed with Lazy Eye. So now he goes once a week to a specialist for therapy. He is to wear an eye patch while doing certain exercises or playing games to try to get the eye to work better. We were told that catching the problem early gives him a better chance to bring the eye back to normal. His appointments are on Wednesdays and close to where Daddy works. So when that appointment is over, everyone meets up with Daddy to have lunch together. Unfortunately lunch is just McDonald's most weeks since they need to go to Speech Therapy at 1:30. When we have more time, Mac's or Alberto's become options. Mac's has wonderful broasted chicken, and Alberto's has good pizza and subs.
Mommy had them help her make Valentine's Day suger cookies in late January. They all did pretty good listening to directions. But sometimes they still got upset because they didn't want to wait their turn.
We've decided that they will go to preschool for another year. They seem to be doing ok academically. But emotionally they're not really ready yet. Listening to directions, waiting their turn, or not being clingy (Lydia) are some of the things they need to work on yet. Next year they'll go 5 days instead of three. This will also be an adjustment for everyone from the standpoint that the 5 day class is only offered in the morning session. So everyone will need to get up earlier and get moving.
The pictures from February has also been put up. It was a slow month, as only 64 pictures were selected this month to be shared. The ice storm pictures were taken in a rush because Daddy had to get to work. Everything had iced over during the night, but by early morning the temperatures were set to rise back towards the 40's. |
